Police operatives in Kebbi State have repelled a bandits’ attack on Kwagware village in Arewa Local Government Area, killing one of the attackers.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
He said the bandits, suspected to be from the Lakurawa group, stormed the village in large numbers but were met with strong resistance from the police.
According to him, “Our operatives responded swiftly to a distress call and engaged the bandits in a gun duel.
In the process, one of the hoodlums was neutralised while others fled with gunshot injuries.”
Abubakar added that normalcy has since returned to the area, while patrols and surveillance have been intensified to forestall further attacks.
He commended the officers for their prompt response and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
