Terrorists on Thursday night raided Doguwar Dorawa, a farming community near Guga in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing two brothers and abducting several residents.
The victims, identified as Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, were prominent elders and respected community leaders.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, suspected to be loyalists of notorious bandit leaders Idi Abasu Aiki and Kwashen Garwa, stormed the village around 10 p.m. and operated for over an hour without any resistance.
The gunmen reportedly rode on motorcycles, parked them in the bush, and trekked into the village to avoid detection.
They looted shops, set houses ablaze, and whisked away several villagers.
A resident told The Nation that the incident has raised doubts about the effectiveness of the peace accord recently initiated between the Katsina State Government and some armed groups in the area.
While Doguwar Dorawa was still mourning the killings and abductions, another group of bandits attacked Layin ‘Yannehu community the same night, rustling a large number of livestock.
Similar raids have been recorded in Ganjar, Alhazawa, and Gidan Nagari communities in recent weeks, during which over 40 persons were abducted and many families displaced.
