A late-night murder at a hotel in the Babaode area of Ilorin, Kwara State, has thrown guests and residents into fear after a female kitchen staff was found strangled by unidentified assailants.
The incident, which reportedly occurred around midnight on Saturday, has remained shrouded in mystery as the motive behind the killing is yet to be established.
Sources told DAILY POST that the victim cried out “thief, thief” moments before she was overpowered and strangled with a piece of cloth.
Conflicting accounts have also emerged. While some insiders allege that the attackers were contracted to carry out the killing, others claim the assailants were targeting the hotel’s owner, who was absent at the time.
The disturbing development prompted frightened lodgers to vacate the facility amid heightened tension.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, said investigation had commenced.
“Thank you.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing,” he wrote in a text message.
