A motorcyclist, Godonu Lowe, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly murdering his wife and attempting to flee the Ilaro community with her body concealed in a sack.

Lowe was intercepted during a routine stop-and-search operation on Wednesday after officers noticed a suspicious sack tied to the back of his motorcycle.

The Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement made available on Thursday, saying the suspect was apprehended at about 1:05 p.m. following credible intelligence.

She disclosed that the victim’s body showed clear signs of violence, with blood around her neck, adding that a blood-stained cutlass was recovered at the scene of the incident.

According to her, “On Wednesday, 19th November 2025, at about 1305hrs, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received credible information that a suspected felon, Godonu Lowe ‘m’ of Omolende Village via Idogo, was transporting the corpse of an unknown woman on a motorcycle in an attempt to escape from the community.

“Acting swiftly, police operatives intercepted the suspect and a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle was untied. The content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife.

“The body bore marks of violence, bleeding around the neck, suggesting foul play. A blood-stained cutlass was recovered at the crime scene.”

Odutola added that the suspect is currently in custody, while the remains of the woman have been deposited at the Ilaro State Morgue for autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the anonymous informant whose tip-off led to the arrest and urged residents to continue sharing timely intelligence, stressing that prompt reports of suspicious activity could help save lives.
