The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old woman, Halimat Jubril, after a fabricated Beretta pistol was allegedly found in her possession along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.

Her arrest followed a routine patrol by a Police Tactical Team operating along the ECOWAS corridor in Badagry.

Officers reportedly flagged her down for questioning, during which she was said to have failed to give a credible explanation for being in possession of the firearm.

Although she denied involvement in armed robbery, police investigators noted that she could not justify why she was travelling with the locally made weapon.

Security sources added that she may be linked to other suspects who are still on the run.

Jubril has since been arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate’s Court on charges of conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm—offences that attract severe penalties under Lagos State law.

The case has been forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice as investigations continue.
