The management of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has confirmed the death of a former student, Oyelade Habeeb Olawale, following a violent clash involving suspected rival cult groups near the institution’s campus.

Olawale, who previously studied Civil Engineering, was reportedly attacked during a confrontation allegedly sparked by ex-students linked to cult groups who returned to the vicinity.

The incident threw the area into panic before security personnel intervened to restore order.

Public Relations Officer of the institution, Halimat Garba, described the killing as “regrettable.”

She disclosed that several suspects have been arrested in connection with the bloody clash and handed over to security agencies for investigation.

Halimat said normalcy has, however, been restored and academic activities continue without disruption.

The spokesperson assured that the institution remained committed to curbing violence and safeguarding students.
