Troops and local vigilante operatives have repelled a bandit attack on Kwargaba community in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, leaving two of the attackers dead and three others in custody.
Security analyst, Bakatsine, disclosed the incident in a post on X on Wednesday, noting that the armed men stormed the village late Tuesday night but met stiff resistance.
According to him, residents promptly raised the alarm, drawing the attention of vigilante members and soldiers stationed in Marnona, who mobilised swiftly to confront the intruders.
He added that the timely response of the security team averted casualties and ensured that no resident was abducted during the attempted assault.
“Last night, bandits attacked the Kwargaba community in Wurno LGA, Sokoto State. Fortunately, no residents were harmed or abducted.
As vigilantes and Soldiers from Marnona responded quickly after receiving the community’s alert and successfully repelled the attack.
They killed two of the bandits and arrested three others,” Bakatsine wrote.
Authorities are expected to intensify patrols in the area as part of efforts to forestall further attacks.
