Troops of Operation Fagge Yamma Strike have killed no fewer than 11 terrorists during a coordinated military operation targeting criminal elements in Sokoto and adjoining states in the North West.

The Nigerian Army, in a statement posted on its official Facebook page, said the operation was executed near Kurawa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to the statement, the troops’ intervention foiled a planned attack on Tara Village, described as “a critical area for cross-movement by terrorist and bandit elements”.

“Acting on precise credible intelligence the strike team executed a well-coordinated ambush engaging the bandits in an intense firefight.

“The operation resulted in the neutralization of 11 bandits, while others fled with gunshot wounds”, the statement added.

The Army noted that troops also recovered several weapons from the terrorists, including eight AK-47 rifles, five extra magazines and 26 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, during the clearance operation.
