‍Former Anambra State governor and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has been taken into custody‌ by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday night in a statement issued by his former media aide, Fred Chukwulobe, following widespread online rumours suggesting that Ngige had been abducted.

Chukwulobe dismissed the reports, clarifying that the former minister was not kidnapped but was with the anti-graft agency.

He said, “Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past minister of labour and employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, is with the EFCC. More details later.”

Ngige has been in the news lately after gunmen attacked his convoy in Anambra State.

He was, however, not inside the vehicle at the time of the assault.
