The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has officially opened applications for enlistment as Police Constables and Specialist personnel.

President Bola Tinubu recently directed the recruitment of 50,000 new officers into the Nigeria Police Force as part of a strategic effort to strengthen internal security and boost manpower to tackle the rising crime rate across the country.

The recruitment portal will be active from December 15, 2025, to January 25, 2026.

Applicants are required to follow a step-by-step process:

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
Candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth, physically and mentally fit, of good character, and free from financial embarrassment. Age limits are 18–25 years for General Duty applicants and up to 28 years for Specialist roles. Female applicants must not be pregnant during training.

Physical requirements include a minimum height of 1.67m and chest measurement of 86cm for male General Duty candidates, while female candidates must be at least 1.64m tall.

Step 2: Confirm Your Qualifications
General Duty applicants must have a minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics, while Specialists require at least four credits, relevant trade experience of three years or more, and trade test certificates.

Step 3: Prepare Your Documents
Applicants should have soft copies of their First School Leaving Certificate, SSCE/NECO results, birth certificate, and LGA/State of origin certificate. Specialist applicants must also include trade test certificates and driver’s license where applicable.

Step 4: Apply Online
Applications must be submitted via the official portal: https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. Candidates are expected to provide a National Identification Number, functional email address, and phone number, and upload all required documents.

Step 5: Know the Categories
Applicants can choose from General Duty roles, such as Police Constables, or Specialist positions in Medical, Transport, EOD-CBRN, K9, Mounted Troop, Marine, Artisan trades, Tailoring, Communication & IT, and Band Sections.

Step 6: Be Ready for Tests
All shortlisted candidates will undergo physical and medical examinations, aptitude tests, and background verification.

Step 7: Follow the Rules
Recruitment is free and strictly merit-based. Any form of bribery or inducement will be penalised.
