The Kano State Police Command has rescued a man from an angry mob following an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on December 21 at Sarina Hotel, located in Badawa Quarters.

According to the sources, the police received a distress call indicating that three men Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim and Soja Snu, all from Dorayi Quarters had gone to the hotel to smoke shisha.

One of the sources said Musa Tasiu allegedly entered the hotel mosque, broke the glass door, picked a copy of the Holy Qur’an and tore it.

“Following the incident, people within the premises mobilised in large numbers, and the suspect was on the verge of being lynched,” the source said.

The sources added that a patrol team attached to the division swiftly responded to the distress call, rescued the suspect and restored calm in the area.

The source said the situation has since been brought under control, while investigation into the incident is ongoing.
