A dispute over a ₦1,500 electricity bill has reportedly claimed the life of a landlord, Mr Lucky Obaze, in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Obaze was allegedly stabbed to death by his tenant following an argument linked to the payment of the electricity bill in the compound where both parties resided.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident yesterday through its Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Bright Edafe.
Edafe disclosed that two suspects were involved in the incident and are currently on the run, adding that investigations had commenced to track them down.
He, however, did not give further details on the circumstances surrounding the killing.
A source said trouble started when the landlord went to collect the electricity bill from the tenant, who occupies a one-room apartment in the compound with his brother.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a heated argument over the ₦1,500 charge.
The source added that the landlord later retired to his upstairs apartment, but the tenant allegedly returned shortly after, armed with a knife, and stabbed him, leading to his death.
