A male pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway, Ogun State, on Christmas morning.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 8am at Odogbolu Junction, inbound Ijebu-Ode.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the vehicle responsible for the accident fled the scene before emergency responders arrived.

He said, “There was a case of hit-and-run by an unidentified vehicle at Odogbolu Junction, inbound Ijebu-Ode, on the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway.”

Akinbiyi later confirmed that the family of the deceased had retrieved the body for burial.

“The earlier reported hit-and-run at Odogbolu Junction has been evacuated by his family members for burial,” he added.
