Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum, Dikko Umaru Radda, has lamented the attack on worshippers at a mosque in Borno State, describing it as a heartless assault on innocent citizens observing prayers.

Radda said the incident, which claimed lives and left others injured, has thrown families and communities into deep mourning, insisting that places of worship must never be subjected to acts of violence.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor noted that every life lost translates to a grieving family and a traumatised community, stressing that mosques, churches and other worship centres should remain sanctuaries for peace, reflection and spiritual refuge.

He said the attack underscores the need to sustain and intensify the fight against terrorism and violent extremism across the country.

Radda urged security agencies to step up operations, strengthen intelligence gathering and ensure that perpetrators of the attack are tracked down and brought to justice.

The governor also called on Nigerians to remain united and vigilant, maintaining that national cohesion remains vital in confronting the country’s security challenges.

He reaffirmed the resolve of Northern governors to continue working closely with the Federal Government to enhance security and safeguard lives and property.

Radda extended his condolences to Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, the state government and people, as well as families of those affected by the attack, praying for the repose of the souls of the deceased and the quick recovery of the injured.
