Fatima Buhari, daughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has stirred reactions after alleging that her father’s former private secretary, Tunde Sabiu, exercised overwhelming influence during the Buhari administration.

Fatima made the claim in an early Tuesday post on her verified X handle, asserting that Sabiu’s power within the Presidential Villa went beyond what was appropriate for his position.

The comment quickly sparked debate on social media, with some users faulting her for speaking out.

One of them, Ahmad Sadeeq, accused Fatima of seeking attention with the Buhari family name and urged her to allow the former president’s family some peace.

Tunde Sabiu, a nephew of the late president, was known to be a close aide who enjoyed Buhari’s confidence throughout his time in office.

He was widely regarded as influential within the presidency and was linked in public discourse to key policy decisions, including the naira redesign programme introduced ahead of the 2023 general elections.
