Akoko North East Local Government witnessed an outpouring of emotions on Tuesday as residents, particularly the elderly, rallied behind the lawmaker representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, in a show of solidarity and continuity.

The gesture came through a grassroots outreach organised by the Ifeoluwa Continuity Movement (ICM) under the initiative, Ounje Arugbo, aimed at supporting aged men and women across the local government.

The programme covered all wards in Akoko North East, with food items distributed to more than 100 elderly beneficiaries.

The exercise drew emotional reactions, as several recipients expressed deep gratitude, noting that the intervention made them feel recognised and valued within the society.

Prayers featured prominently during the event, with beneficiaries offering supplications for Hon. Ehindero, whom they described as a true grassroots representative. They prayed for long life, protection and wisdom for the federal lawmaker, while openly expressing their desire for him to continue in office beyond the 2027 general election.

The outreach attracted party leaders, community elders, youths, women groups and political stakeholders from across the local government, all converging in support of what they described as quality and people-oriented representation.

Observers said the large turnout underscored growing confidence in Hon. Ehindero’s leadership, which many participants described as compassionate and consistent rather than seasonal.

Through the Ifeoluwa Continuity Movement, supporters noted that the lawmaker’s initiatives continue to make direct impact at the grassroots, particularly among vulnerable groups.

The message from Akoko North East was clear, as participants insisted that the voice of the elderly must be heard and respected, declaring that 2027 should be about continuity.
