The leadership structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State aligned with former Minister of Justice, Mohammed Tanimu Turaki, has been collapsed into the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The development was announced on Friday in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area during Wike’s local government tour of the state.

Speaking at the event, Robinson Nname Ewor, who had been acting as factional chairman of the Turaki-led group in Rivers, declared that the faction had formally surrendered its structure and leadership to the Aaron Chukwuemeka-led PDP, which is aligned with Wike.

Ewor said the decision effectively ended the long-running internal division within the party in the state, insisting that the PDP now operates under a single leadership.

He stated that the chairmanship and leadership of the faction he headed had been handed over to Chukwuemeka, stressing that the party in Rivers was no longer fragmented.

The declaration came barely a day after Ewor accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of allegedly misleading party members by claiming he possessed the political strength to defeat Wike in the ongoing power tussle within the state’s political space.

With the latest move, questions have emerged over the continued existence of the Turaki-led tendency in Rivers PDP, as the party’s structure appears to have been consolidated under the Wike-backed leadership.
