Suspected bandits have reportedly raided Yanshantuna community in Makera Ward, Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State, making away with residents’ mobile phones and money during a Maulud gathering.

The incident was disclosed by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he said the attack happened on Saturday evening.

According to him, the armed men cordoned off the area where the religious event was ongoing, dispossessed attendees of their valuables and also broke into a nearby phone-charging shop.

Bakatsine said the development came shortly after authorities announced a peace agreement involving local stakeholders and armed groups in the council area.

In the post sighted by PROMPTNEWS, Bakatsine wrote: “BREAKING: Yesterday evening, during a Maulud gathering in Yanshantuna community of Makera Ward, Dutsin-Ma LGA, Katsina State, armed bandits reportedly surrounded residents, seized their phones and cash, and looted a phone-charging shop.

“The incident directly contradicts official claims of “peace” following the recent peace agreement between local stakeholders and armed groups in the Local Government.

“Residents are now asking: what concrete monitoring and enforcement mechanisms are in place to ensure that this peace deal actually protects civilians on the ground?@dikko_radda @NGRSenate @___Bils @AbdulGidadoo @Waspapping_ @Sarki_sultan @_hafsat_paki @FaridaAshu @woye1 @ChuksEricE.”
