No fewer than 95 princes and princesses from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House have formally expressed interest in succeeding the late Awujale of Ijebuland.
The Olori Ebi of the ruling house and Otunba Jadiara, Lateef Owoyemi, made the disclosure on Tuesday at the opening of the nomination process held at the Bisi Rodipe Hall, GRA, Ijebu-Ode.
Owoyemi, a former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, noted that the screening committee would sieve through the list and forward those who meet the initial requirements to the Afobajes.
Among those present at the gathering were the Deputy Olori Ebi, Otunba Ajidagba, Chairman of the ruling house committee, Chief Fassy Yusuf, and other key family heads.
According to Owoyemi, the Afobajes would eventually select one candidate from the shortlisted names and transmit the nomination to the Ogun State Government for ratification.
He urged aggrieved parties and rival claimants to channel their complaints appropriately.
“Anyone who is unhappy with the process should take their concerns to the state government rather than create unnecessary tension,” he added.
