A Nigerian caregiver, identified as Oghenemaro Dave Ejerua, has been arrested in Canada over a string of alleged assaults on residents of a Toronto group home for vulnerable adults.
Toronto Police confirmed that the 38-year-old was taken into custody last week after detectives linked him to multiple incidents of abuse said to have occurred in November 2025.
According to investigators, the alleged offences took place between November 1 and November 30, during which several adults under care were repeatedly assaulted within the facility.
Police officers were first alerted on December 10, 2025, after a distress call from the group home located around Sibley Avenue and Dentonia Park Avenue in East Toronto.
An appeal to the public followed as efforts began to trace the suspect while an internal investigation got underway.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 12, Toronto Police announced that Ejerua had been arrested and subsequently charged with seven counts of assault.
Authorities said the accused would make his court appearance at a later date.
The charges remain allegations until proven in court.
