The Ondo State Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of St. Louis Primary School in Ondo town over alleged disregard for operational standards guiding private schools in the state.

The directive, handed down by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun, took effect on Tuesday and is to remain in force indefinitely.

Ajibefun said the drastic action followed the institution’s repeated failure to comply with clearly stated regulatory requirements, despite several warnings from the ministry.

According to him, the closure forms part of an ongoing statewide enforcement drive to ensure privately owned schools operate strictly within approved legal and academic standards.

He added that the seal-off would not be lifted until the school fully aligns with state policies and formally recognises government oversight procedures.

The Commissioner urged parents and guardians of pupils enrolled in the affected school to adhere to the directive and make alternative arrangements where necessary.

Ajibefun reaffirmed that the state government remains committed to safeguarding quality learning and enforcing accountability across educational institutions in Ondo State.
