A woman in Delta State has confessed to killing her husband and inflicting life-threatening injuries on two other women during a violent outburst.
The suspect, currently detained by the police, made the admission in a video shared on Friday by the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe.
Speaking in Pidgin English, the woman said anger drove her to repeatedly hack her husband.
“Na anger make me kill my husband with machete. I machete am five times,” she said, adding that she now fears for the fate of her children. “I feel very bad. I don’t know where my children are now.”
Narrating the sequence of events, Edafe said the woman, believed to be in her mid-30s, attacked her husband with a machete before sending her child to summon a neighbour.
“When the neighbour arrived and opened the door, she turned the same weapon on her,” the police spokesman explained.
According to him, the attack escalated as the suspect armed herself with a hammer and tricked another woman on the same street into accompanying her.
“She deceived the second woman to follow her by claiming her husband was beating their 12-year-old son,” Edafe said.
“As soon as they got close, she hit her on the head with a hammer repeatedly.”
The third victim reportedly screamed for help, drawing the attention of residents who restrained the suspect and rushed the injured women to hospital.
“At the moment, the husband is dead while the two women are in critical condition,” Edafe confirmed, displaying the bloodstained machete and hammer recovered from the scene.
Police said investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged upon completion of inquiries.
