The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Friday decorated 110 newly promoted officers, including its spokesperson, amid commendations from the agency’s leadership.

The ceremony, held at the command headquarters in Akure, saw the State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, pinning new ranks on the officers, whom he described as deserving beneficiaries of diligence and commitment.

Ibiloye noted that the promoted personnel formed part of a backlog waiting to be elevated before the appointment of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, whom he praised for clearing the files.

According to him, the advancement of the officers reflected their professional contributions and the growth of the corps in the state.

“Promotion is a reward for hard work,” he said. “Beyond passing examinations, the process factors in federal character to ensure balance.

Your elevation comes with greater responsibility; you must redouble your efforts and meet the expectations before you.”

The commandant tasked the newly promoted officers to strengthen security operations, safeguard lives and property, and ensure that Ondo residents “sleep with both eyes closed.”

He also lauded personnel of the command for their support and urged members of the public and sister security agencies to sustain collaboration.

One of the newly decorated officers, Folashade Olakanse, who rose to the rank of Deputy Commandant of Corps, pledged to uphold the ethics of the service and work within its mandate.

“I see this elevation as motivation to give my best, with discipline and dedication,” she stated.

The command’s spokesperson, Daniel Aidamenbor, who now wears the rank of Superintendent of Corps, described the promotion as a call to greater accountability.

“Every rank comes with new expectations. My duty is to ensure that public trust is sustained,” he said, promising to deepen community policing and enhance protection of critical assets across the state.
