The Gombe State Government has confirmed the death of a newly enlisted Nigerian Army recruit, Ibrahim Nazifi, who reportedly died while undergoing training at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Nazifi was said to be among the first batch of successful candidates from Gombe State participating in the Nigerian Army Regular Recruit Intake.

Confirming the development in a statement on Thursday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters and Intergovernmental Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Danbayo, disclosed that the recruit died after a brief illness at the training camp.

The deceased was identified as a native of Buba Bani village in Kashere Ward, Akko Local Government Area of the state.

Danbayo described Nazifi as a committed and patriotic young man who had embraced the call to serve the nation, noting that his death had thrown his family and the entire state into mourning.

“The loss is deeply painful, not only to his immediate family but also to the Gombe State Government, the people of Akko Local Government Area and the state as a whole,” he said.

He conveyed the condolences of the state government to the bereaved family, relatives, friends and colleagues of the late recruit, praying for divine mercy upon his soul.

Danbayo also urged the public to reflect on the fleeting nature of life, noting that death remains an inevitable reality for all, with a final return to God.
