A 55-year-old farmer, Iliya Saidu, has been killed by suspected assailants while heading to his cassava farm in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, was said to have happened at about 8:30am.
A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed in a post on X on Monday that Saidu, who lived at Step II in Karim town, left home for his farm located between Gamu and Pira villages when he was attacked.
It was gathered that the victim was later found dead, prompting the Ward Councillor representing Karim ‘A’ Ward, Alison Adamu, to report the matter at the Karim-Lamido Police Division.
Following the report, detectives were said to have visited the scene, took photographs and evacuated the corpse to the Comprehensive Health Centre, Karim-Lamido, for autopsy.
After the examination, the body was released to the family for burial.
The police said investigation had commenced to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing, adding that updates would be provided as the case progresses.
