No fewer than three persons were killed on Monday night when suspected bandits launched coordinated attacks on two villages in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The assailants were also said to have ransacked several homes during the attacks, which threw the affected communities into grief.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on Tuesday by a security analyst known as Bakatsine on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the post, the attackers first invaded Dan Kura village, where they reportedly shot dead two residents before carting away valuables from houses in the community.
The bandits were said to have later moved to Dankaka village in search of a groom believed to be a member of a local vigilante group.
However, when they could not find him, the attackers reportedly abducted his bride and killed her before fleeing the area.
The latest attacks have once again highlighted the worsening security situation in parts of Sokoto State, particularly in rural communities.
As of the time of filing this report, the state police command and other relevant authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
