The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a 15-year-old girl, Aisha Abubakar, whose body was discovered in a bush on the outskirts of Kwami Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was reported to the police around noon on Tuesday by the victim’s father, Malam Abubakar, who alleged that his daughter was a victim of culpable homicide.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the deceased was sent on an errand on Sunday, January 26, 2026, but never returned home.
According to the statement, the girl was sent to buy soya beans at about 5:40pm on the said day before she went missing.
“She was sent to buy soya beans on 26/01/2026 at about 1740hrs and did not return home,” Abdullahi stated.
He said the girl’s lifeless body was later found on Tuesday in a bush at the outskirts of the community.
“Unfortunately, her body was discovered today in a bush on the outskirts of the village,” the police spokesman said.
Abdullahi disclosed that detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where photographs were taken as part of preliminary investigations.
“Police detectives promptly visited the scene and documented it accordingly,” he added.
He noted that initial observations suggested that the victim may have been subjected to violence, adding that the corpse was evacuated to a hospital for medical examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The police spokesman assured residents that investigation had commenced, saying efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
