A Nigerien national has been shot dead at the Burdugu border entry point in Baure Local Government Area of Katsina State, near the Niger Republic boundary.
The incident reportedly occurred on February 3, 2026, during a routine border patrol by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the incident via his verified X handle on Tuesday, said the victim was a 30-year-old motorcyclist identified as Dari Bace Bace, a resident of Bace Bace village in the Niger Republic.
According to the report, the deceased was allegedly shot by an immigration officer, Inspector Tijjani Mai Kaho, after he failed to stop at the checkpoint for routine screening.
Makama stated that the officer fired at the motorcyclist, inflicting severe head injuries.
The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Baure and later referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Daura, where he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.
