Enugu State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals and seized firearms, ammunition, and illicit drugs in separate operations across the state.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday, officers from the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad apprehended Emmanuel Mba, 31, and Nnam Onukwube, 35, on January 19 at Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area.
The suspects reportedly admitted membership of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba identified as the group’s leader and executioner in the area as of December 2025.
Items recovered from the duo included a pump-action rifle, a locally fabricated Beretta-type pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large wrap of what is suspected to be cannabis, a motorcycle, and an HP laptop.
In a separate operation on January 31, police raided hideouts in Agbani, detaining eight individuals. Screening revealed that Monday Ezeani, 32, was in possession of dried cannabis and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine, locally called mkpuru-mmiri. The remaining seven were released after preliminary investigations.
The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He also urged those involved in cultism, armed robbery, and drug-related crimes to desist or face prosecution under the law.
