The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested 10 suspects for their alleged roles in vandalism of critical national infrastructure, kidnapping, theft and other criminal activities across the Federal Capital Territory and adjoining states.

The arrests were disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, ACC Afolabi Babawale.

According to the statement, the operation followed a directive by the Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, ordering intensified action against economic sabotage and crimes targeting public assets.

Babawale said the suspects were apprehended by the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad working in synergy with the CG’s Crack Squad after acting on credible intelligence and renewed operational strategies.

He noted that operatives recovered vandalised armoured cables and dangerous weapons allegedly used in perpetrating the crimes.

“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” the statement added.

The Corps reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards economic sabotage, warning that individuals or syndicates involved in the destruction of public infrastructure would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

It also reassured residents of the Federal Capital Territory and neighbouring states of its commitment to protecting lives, property and vital national assets.
