A Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State has ordered the remand of a 23-year-old man, Abidemi Emmanuel, in a correctional facility over the alleged rape of a Lagos-based content creator, Fems Thrift, and her friend.
The defendant was arraigned on Tuesday on charges bordering on sexual assault.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter till March 19, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the suspect was remanded following his arraignment, adding that investigations were ongoing.
“The suspect has been arraigned and remanded in a correctional facility. The case has been adjourned till March 19, 2026. Investigation is still ongoing,” she stated.
The incident was said to have occurred on February 8, 2026, at Ajao Estate in Lagos, where the suspect allegedly lured the victims under the guise of a modelling engagement.
It was gathered that the content creator had shared her ordeal in a video that circulated widely on social media.
According to her account, the suspect contacted her via Instagram, claiming he had recently relocated from the United Kingdom to establish an international fashion brand in Nigeria.
He allegedly offered her N140,000 for a modelling job and requested that she leverage her online platform to promote the supposed brand.
She explained that she arrived at the apartment around 11 a.m. in the company of her friend for safety reasons, only to discover that the premises were unfurnished.
The suspect was accused of threatening the victims with a knife, restraining them, and sexually assaulting them.
He was further alleged to have taken their mobile phones and transferred private materials to his device, threatening to circulate them online if they reported the incident.
Emmanuel was arrested on February 14, 2026, following public outrage generated by the viral video.
The Police said the matter is being handled by the Gender Unit of the command as investigations continue.
