The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that suspected gunmen abducted a husband and wife at Olaribigba Estate in the Ilu-Abo area of the state.
Police sources said the incident happened late on February 20, 2026, when the victims, identified as Mr. Jamiu Olawale and his wife, were attacked shortly after arriving home from their business premises.
The couple were said to have driven into their compound in an ash-coloured Toyota Camry when armed assailants reportedly emerged from nearby bushes and forcefully took them away to an unknown location.
A neighbour, Mr. Patrick Ilumaro, who was seated outside his residence at the time, was struck by a bullet during the attack and was rushed to a hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.
In response, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, directed the immediate deployment of tactical units and conventional operatives to search surrounding forests and nearby communities in an effort to rescue the victims.
The police said ongoing operations are focused on ensuring the safe return of the abducted couple and tracking down those responsible for the crime.
The command also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.
