A farmer identified simply as Abdulkarim has been hospitalised after suspected bandits cut off one of his hands during an attack in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident was brought to public attention on Monday by security analyst, Bakatsine, via his X handle.
He disclosed that the assault occurred on Friday evening while the victim was tending to his dry-season farm.
According to the post, the assailants reportedly stormed the farmland and inflicted grievous injuries on the farmer, severing his hand in the process. Sources quoted in the report indicated that the attack followed an altercation between Abdulkarim and the armed men.
The development has sparked fresh concerns over the worsening security situation in rural communities, particularly as farmers continue to face threats while carrying out agricultural activities.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities in Kaduna State had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
