Controversial relationship coach, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has refused to apologise over the uproar trailing her breast cancer disclosure, even as she admitted receiving N13m in public donations amid the controversy.
Okoro, in an interview with Egungun of Lagos published on Saturday, dismissed calls for an apology, insisting she had not wronged anyone despite accusations of misleading the public about her health status.
The social media figure also denied earlier reports that she had been diagnosed with stage four cancer, attributing the claim to a possible misunderstanding of medical information relayed to her.
Questioned on the need for an apology, she responded, “For what? Who did I hurt?” maintaining that she merely communicated what she understood from her doctors.
She explained that she was yet to receive a confirmed staging of the disease from her oncologist, noting that further consultations would determine her exact condition.
According to her, she has not commenced chemotherapy, adding that a biopsy remains the most recent procedure she has undergone.
Okoro traced the health scare to a lump she discovered last year, which was initially declared non-cancerous before subsequent examinations indicated otherwise.
Amid growing pressure to release her medical records, she declined, describing them as private.
“I can’t post my results online. It’s personal,” she said.
She also refuted widespread claims that she received as much as N100m in donations, clarifying that the total sum realised was N13m.
On treatment options, she acknowledged the possibility of a mastectomy but stressed that survival remained her priority.
The controversy has continued to generate heated reactions online, with initial sympathy giving way to scepticism over the absence of verifiable medical evidence.
Adding to the tension, Deborah Mbara accused Okoro of manipulating medical documents, while businessman Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, also known as Oil Money, claimed he donated N20m and has demanded a refund through legal channels.
Despite the backlash, Okoro used the platform to advocate breast cancer awareness, urging women to carry out regular self-examinations.
The latest development has further deepened scrutiny around her claims, reigniting debates over accountability and transparency among public figures who solicit support on sensitive health issues.
