Two persons were injured in the early hours of Sunday following a collision involving two trucks at the Arepo Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident, which reportedly occurred around 4 a.m., involved an empty American Cola truck and a Seaco truck.

The crash caused a heavy traffic build-up along the busy highway as officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps moved to clear the wreckage and tow the affected vehicles off the road.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said one of the drivers sustained severe injuries and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A witness, Mrs Ibukun Victoria, said the other driver involved in the crash escaped with minor injuries.

Another motorist who witnessed the incident blamed the accident on waste materials allegedly left on the road, which he said may have contributed to the collision.
