Four members of the House of Representatives Nigeria on Wednesday announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party Nigeria to the All Progressives Congress.

The lawmakers include Inuwa Garuba, representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State; Abdullahi El-Rasheed, who represents Dakku/Nafada Federal Constituency, also in Gombe; and Mohammed Audu, representing Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State. The trio defected from the PDP to the APC.

Similarly, Obika Chinedu, who represents Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, also left the LP for the APC.

In a related development, Adewale Adebayo, lawmaker representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State, defected from the PDP to the Accord Party Nigeria.

The notices of defection were read during plenary on Wednesday by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.

The lawmakers attributed their decision to ongoing internal crises within their former political parties.
