The Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Hamza Musa Durba, has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen.
The incident occurred late on Friday when about six armed men reportedly stormed his residence in Dinya town, located in Durba Ward of the council area.
Security sources confirmed that the assailants, who arrived on motorcycles, carried out the operation without discharging any firearms.
A security operative in the area said the attackers executed the abduction swiftly, gaining entry into the house and whisking away their target without drawing attention.
According to the source, members of the victim’s household who were present during the invasion were not harmed, as the gunmen focused solely on taking Durba away.
Residents of the community described the incident as disturbing, noting that the absence of gunshots made the operation unusual and raised concerns about the growing audacity of criminal elements in rural parts of the state.
Meanwhile, security agencies have commenced a search-and-rescue operation aimed at securing the victim’s release and tracking down those responsible for the abduction.
