The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Sunday received notable opposition figures at his Kano residence in the spirit of the Sallah celebration.

Those present at the gathering included the 2023 Labour Party presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, who is now associated with the African Democratic Congress; Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party; and a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson.

Kwankwaso shared images from the visit on his verified X account, describing the occasion as a memorable Sallah gathering marked by goodwill.

He wrote, “I was honoured to receive Their Excellencies, Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, and Seriake Dickson at my residence in Kano for the Sallah festivities. I wish Nigerians continued peace and prosperity.”

The development has intensified discussions about possible cooperation among opposition leaders as the 2027 general elections approach.

It will be recalled that Kwankwaso had earlier held a private meeting with Makinde in Ibadan in February 2026, a move that had triggered speculation about a potential alliance aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress.
