A magistrates’ court on Monday sentenced two security guards, Naphtali Nansak, 34, and Gabriel Kenshio, 36, to one year in prison each for acts of negligence.

The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Irene Pati after the men pleaded guilty to the charges. Each convict was also fined N40,000.

The prosecution, led by Daniel Damulak, told the court that the matter was reported by the complainant, Onyekwere Churchill, at the Anglo-Jos Police Station on February 10.

Damulak added that the convicts’ conduct violated provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
