The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has indefinitely suspended Fubara Dagogo, a prominent party chieftain, following allegations of anti-party conduct.

Dagogo’s suspension was announced yesterday by members of the party and the Ward 4 executive committee in Bonny Local Government Area.

The development comes after Dagogo filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to stop the party’s zonal convention.

He had claimed that he was unfairly barred from contesting for the position of National Vice-Chairman, Southsouth, despite paying N5.1 million for the nomination form.

Dagogo alleged that the party refused to issue him the form after receiving the payment.

In his suit, Dagogo requested the court to halt the Southsouth zonal Congress, declare him eligible for the nomination form, and nullify any election conducted without his participation.

He also demanded N100 million in damages for what he described as wrongful exclusion.

The Bonny Ward executive committee, however, cited “gross misconduct, anti-party activities, and other related offences” as grounds for his suspension.

Speaking on the decision, Ward 4 APC Chairman Richard Ibani said the resolution was passed during a meeting on March 16 and endorsed by the ward secretary, Donald Jumbo, along with 21 other committee members.

Dagogo was accused of violating the APC Constitution, engaging in conduct likely to embarrass the party, disregarding lawful directives, and making statements that demean party leaders at both state and national levels.

The offences were noted to contravene Article 21.2 (I), (II), and (VII) of the APC Constitution, 2022 (as amended).

In a statement, the ward committee warned: “The ward exco has consistently advised members to avoid actions capable of ridiculing our party.

“Your recent conduct shows unwillingness to respect and abide by the constitution and directives of our great party.

“Your suspension takes immediate effect, and we call on the state secretariat to endorse our resolution and take necessary action.”
