Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, allegedly in possession of human body parts suspected to be intended for ritual activities.
The suspect was reportedly intercepted in the early hours of April 17, 2026, during a routine patrol carried out by officers attached to a division led by Divisional Police Officer, Solotan Owolabi.
Confirming the development in a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the suspect was found with a human head and two severed palms concealed in a nylon bag.
Preliminary findings, according to the police, indicated that the remains were allegedly exhumed from a grave at Ido Itekun Village in Igbesa.
“The suspect is believed to have removed the body parts from a burial site for ritual purposes.
“The implement used in the act has been recovered, while the scene has been visited and properly documented,” the statement noted.
Babaseyi added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe.
The command reiterated its resolve to clamp down on criminal activities across the state and urged residents to stay alert and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
