A former Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Hon. Ade Adeniyi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency, amid strong support from party members and stakeholders.
The declaration, which drew a large turnout of supporters and political figures, was marked by chants and expressions of confidence in Adeniyi’s capacity to represent the constituency effectively.
Speaking at the event, Adeniyi said his decision was driven by a desire to deepen grassroots development and provide purposeful representation at the National Assembly.
He recalled his experience in public service, including his tenure as council chairman, Special Adviser on Youth, and member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, noting that the positions enabled him to implement policies that impacted communities positively.
According to him, “Leadership is not about distance or authority; it is about service, transparency, and responsibility to the people. My focus remains on delivering measurable results that improve the lives of our people.”
He outlined his development agenda, which includes improved road infrastructure, better healthcare delivery, and the provision of modern public facilities, adding that he would work to attract federal projects to the constituency.
Adeniyi also pledged to prioritise education and youth empowerment through scholarships, vocational training, and skills acquisition programmes aimed at reducing unemployment.
On governance, he assured constituents of an inclusive approach that would accommodate women, youths, and vulnerable groups, while also promising to support policies that enhance security and social welfare.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and expressed support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, vowing to mobilise grassroots support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The declaration was endorsed by prominent party leaders, including a former senator, Gbenga Ogunniya, who commended Adeniyi’s track record and expressed confidence in his ability to deliver effective representation. Other stakeholders present at the event also threw their weight behind his ambition.
