Call cheating husbands ‘Righteous’, Pastor Bolaji tells wives

The Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, Bolaji Idowu, has sparked reactions after advising married women to refrain from condemning their husbands over infidelity, urging them instead to affirm positive declarations.

The cleric gave the counsel during a recent church service, a video of which surfaced online on Wednesday and quickly gained traction on social media.

Addressing his congregation, Idowu warned that labelling husbands as habitual cheats or publicly highlighting their misconduct could reinforce such behaviour rather than correct it.

He encouraged women to adopt what he described as faith-based affirmations, urging them to refer to their husbands as “the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus,” even in the face of wrongdoing.

According to him, negative confessions could compound existing issues, while positive words have the capacity to influence character and inspire change.

He maintained that in moments of moral failure, believers should “speak light” rather than dwell on perceived darkness, stressing that words play a significant role in shaping outcomes.

Drawing from biblical teachings, the pastor cited the story of Lazarus, noting that Jesus spoke life despite apparent death, as an example of the power of faith-filled declarations.

Idowu further urged his audience to focus on desired outcomes rather than present realities, insisting that consistent positive affirmations could lead to transformation.

His remarks have since generated widespread debate, with differing views trailing the message across social media platforms.
