Operatives of the Gombe State Police Command have recovered 119 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed inside a sack along Kalshingi Road in Kwadon, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of the state.
The recovery followed credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer of Kwadon Division at about 10:30am on May 19, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, Buhari Abdullahi, security operatives were alerted to a suspicious white sack hidden beneath a tree opposite a graveyard along the road.

Items recovered from the sack included 119 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition for AK-47 rifles, two empty ammunition packets, two bottles containing moringa seeds, and a green bag.
The police spokesperson disclosed that operatives immediately launched a search of nearby bushes and adjoining areas after the discovery, but no suspect had been arrested as of the time of filing this report.
He added that the command had intensified surveillance and monitoring within the area as investigations continued to identify those connected to the concealed ammunition.
“The Command has intensified monitoring and surveillance in the area while investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend those connected with the concealed ammunition,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, commended residents for providing timely information that aided the recovery.
