Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested several suspected drug dealers and recovered large quantities of Tramadol and Cannabis Sativa during separate intelligence-led operations across the state.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the operations were conducted by personnel of the Special Intervention Squad and the Gezawa Police Division following credible intelligence from members of the public.
In one of the raids, officers arrested two suspects identified as Abdulsalam Muhammad and Murtala Sani along Nassarawa GRA in Kano.
Police said the duo was intercepted with a Bagco sack suspected to contain illicit substances.
During interrogation, one of the suspects allegedly confessed that the sack contained Tramadol supplied by two accomplices who are currently on the run.
A subsequent search reportedly led to the recovery of 23 rolls of Tramadol, each containing 10 packs.
The statement noted that the suspects were apprehended on May 23, 2026, at about 5:25 p.m. following intelligence reports received by the Special Intervention Squad.
In a separate operation, officers attached to the Gezawa Police Division arrested another suspect, Sama’ila Ado, at a location described as a black spot where he was allegedly selling Cannabis Sativa.
Police recovered 130 wraps and half a block of the substance from the suspect.
Similarly, another suspect, Umar Salisu, was reportedly arrested in the Gezawa Mesanda area with 10 wraps of suspected cannabis and two bottles of rubber solution.
The police command stated that investigations were ongoing and that all suspects would be charged in court upon completion of inquiries.
It added that efforts were also being intensified to arrest other fleeing members of the alleged drug syndicate.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and dedication.
He also praised residents for providing useful information that aided the successful raids.
The command urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence, assuring residents of its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and safeguarding lives and property in the state.
