A legal practitioner and Convener of the Ogo-Ilaje National Movement, Fadeshola Ojamomi, has urged governments and security agencies across the country to intensify efforts toward rescuing abducted children and other victims still being held captive by criminals.
In a statement issued on Tuesday to commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration and the Eid Kabir festival, Ojamomi said the joy associated with the season would remain incomplete as long as innocent children continued to live in fear or remain in the hands of abductors.
He lamented that while many families were celebrating in happiness and thanksgiving, several parents across the country were still battling pain, uncertainty and sleepless nights over the disappearance of their children.
According to him, every child deserves freedom, protection and the warmth of a safe home environment.
Ojamomi stressed that the plight of abducted children and other victims of insecurity must not be allowed to fade from national consciousness, warning that their suffering should never become “another forgotten headline.”
He called on the Federal Government, state governments and security agencies to redouble efforts toward ensuring the immediate release of all citizens held in captivity.
The lawyer, however, commended the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for what he described as sustained commitment to the protection of lives and property in the state.
He particularly praised the governor for prioritising the welfare of security personnel, including the approval of a new welfare package for the Amotekun Corps to strengthen the state’s security architecture.
Ojamomi further urged Nigerians to use the Eid Kabir celebration and Children’s Day commemoration as an opportunity to renew their commitment toward building a safer society where children can live without fear and parents can enjoy peace of mind.
He added that the season should inspire compassion, stronger institutions and urgent action toward restoring hope, peace and safety to affected families across the country.
