The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old security guard, identified as Friday Ayuba, for allegedly stealing motor spare parts belonging to his employer in Ita-Asu Village, near Owode-Egba.

The suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Owode-Egba Division following a report lodged by the management of the affected company.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday, stating that the case was reported to the police on May 30, 2026.

According to him, the company’s manager informed the police that Ayuba had earlier been intercepted by officers of the Quick Response Squad along the Sagamu Interchange section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly attempting to transport company property without authorisation.

Babaseyi said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who worked as a security guard with the firm, was found in possession of several motor spare parts believed to have been removed illegally from the company’s premises.

The items recovered from him included four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all reportedly belonging to the company.

The police spokesperson added that the suspect allegedly confessed to the theft during interrogation.

“Following the report, detectives visited the scene for further investigation and documentation, while the recovered items were secured as exhibits,” he said.

He noted that the suspect remains in police custody and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bode Ojajuni, commended the vigilance of the company’s management and the swift collaboration between the Quick Response Squad and officers of the Owode-Egba Division, which led to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the suspect.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding businesses, critical infrastructure and residents across the state through intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime-fighting measures.

He also urged employers and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
