A young boy was killed and several worshippers sustained injuries when suspected bandits attacked a mosque during evening prayers in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack occurred in Namama community on Sunday evening as residents gathered for Maghrib prayers amid a heavy downpour.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the mosque and opened fire on worshippers, causing panic and confusion within the prayer ground.

The deceased, identified as Adamu, was reportedly hit during the assault and died from injuries sustained in the attack. Several other worshippers were also wounded and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

A security analyst, Bakatsine, who disclosed the incident on social media, said the attackers carried out the assault while residents were observing prayers.

He noted that efforts were ongoing to ensure the injured victims received medical attention, while prayers were being offered for their speedy recovery.

The latest attack has renewed concerns over the security situation in parts of Kaduna State, particularly rural communities that have repeatedly come under attacks from armed groups.

Residents and observers have continued to call for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities and places of worship from recurring violence.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
