The Lagos State Police Command has moved to calm fears among residents following reports of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school warning of a planned abduction of pupils.

The command said there was no credible intelligence suggesting that any bandit group was plotting an attack on schools or any other location within the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the command immediately swung into action after becoming aware of the reports circulating in parts of the state.

According to her, security agencies promptly commenced an assessment of the situation while taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students, school personnel and residents.

The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, ordered a thorough evaluation of the alleged threat and directed the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the affected area and other strategic locations across Lagos.

Police officers, working in collaboration with other security agencies, have also been stationed around schools, critical infrastructure and vulnerable communities as part of enhanced security arrangements.

“The Command wishes to reassure parents, guardians, school authorities and all residents that there is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State,” the statement said.

The police maintained that Lagos remains safe and secure, stressing that security agencies would not allow criminal elements to disrupt public peace or create unnecessary panic among residents.

The command warned that anyone found spreading fear or attempting to undermine public safety would face the full weight of the law.

It further urged residents to remain alert and continue supporting security agencies with useful and timely information, noting that community cooperation remains vital in crime prevention and public safety.

Residents were also encouraged to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency channels.
