The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who had been on its wanted list since 2025, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation in the Mubi area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed in a statement on Friday that the suspects were apprehended by operatives of Operation Sanity Mubi after allegedly participating in a recent robbery attack.
According to the police, the suspects, identified as Abdulhamid Salihu, popularly known as Baban Anty, and Bello Yahaya, also known as Baban Yambiyu, were linked to a robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara in Mubi.
Nguroje said the duo, alongside two accomplices who remain at large, allegedly attacked a resident, Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him and carted away cash and other valuables.
He explained that police operatives attached to Mubi North and Mubi South divisions tracked the suspects through sustained intelligence gathering and eventually arrested them.
Items recovered from the suspects included mobile phones, jewellery, handbags, travelling bags and weapons allegedly used during the operation.
The police spokesman noted that investigations were ongoing, adding that efforts had been intensified to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang and ensure they face prosecution.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating criminal activities across the state, assuring residents that security operatives would continue to pursue and dismantle criminal networks threatening public safety.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies with credible information that could aid crime-fighting efforts.
